Last night I took my dog to the emergency vet. She ran into a moving vehicle.
But if that's not what you mean then, last summer I had a reaction to an antibiotic and had to go to the emergency room at 3:00 AM. I was on a plane to Alaska for my brothers wedding 6 hours later.

I don't remember ever going, but my mom tells a story of me eating a whole bottle of prescription flouride vitamins when I was two. First she took me to the pharmacist who tried to get me to throw up with ipecac. When that didn't work, she drove me to the emergency room. Some awful beaurocratic woman was making my panicked mom fill out paperwork when I finally upchucked all over her typewriter! My mom loves that story :)

A couple of years ago, I had SEVERE migranes. I'm in blinding pain, and the stupid doc wanted to do a rectal exam.
WHAT'S WITH THAT??? Seems to me like Dr. Fetish lost sight of the issue here!

For me... about 10-11 years ago. I sliced a little tip off my finger with a box cutter. A few steri-strips and a lot of bleeding and pain, and then I was fine.
For others... a couple of years ago.
For an animal... a few months ago.

For myself? It was after getting a sort of papervut tear on my cornea. The second time. It seems to be a recurring annoyance, easily caused by dust particles on the eye.

Due to my husband's heart attack his heart disease and the death of my dad, we have unfortunately had several trips to the emergency room in the last couple of years.
However, the last trip was a year ago. We are friends with an elderly couple. She and I had been to a luncheon on April 30, 2005. The guys were hungry for dinner so we went together so they could eat "big." My friend was the last of us to go to the salad bar...
I heard a strange noise and turned to see her laying flat on her face on the floor... I ran to her and asked if she was alright. She shook her head no. 911 was called... a nurse eating her dinner rushed to our aid... she was an angel... our friend stopped breathing.... she quickly turned her over and started CPR... she was back. Off to the emergency room in the ambulance... we followed quickly.
No heart attack, no stroke, she didn't trip... but, she fell and had broken her neck... C3... by morning she was paralyzed... my May 2 she had died. One year ago today. She was 80. It was very sad. I have thought of her all day.

It was a bit over a year ago. The nursing home where my wife works called and asked me to come get her; her blood pressure, normally low, was sky high and fluctuating and she wouldn't let them call and ambulance and they wouldn't let her drive herself to the ER.
They gave her some meds and got it to come down, then our regular doctor ran tests, but never found anything conclusive, though she's on medication now, because it never came all the way back down. They think it may have something to do with the kidney she lost...

A couple of years ago when my husband had an infection. What a rip off, he spent 5 minutes in the hallway talking to the doctor just to be given an antibiotic and sent home. They never even took him in the ER to examine him. They charged us $1000.00 and he never did get better. It wasn't until last summer when he finally found a decent doctor that he was finally diagnosed and treated...

When I was in tenth grade. I had mono for a good three months and my throat would swell so much that I couldn't breath. Oh wait, it was that major car wreck I was in on County Line Road probably ten years ago. I was strapped to one of those hard boards. It sucked.

I got a chunk of wood in my eye working outside...Tried to get it out for hours...went to the emergency room for hours...eventually it just came out and I never did see a doctor but they did make us pay a lot for free cable and a blood pressure check. :/

James came home after a night out complaining of a bad leg - he'd had a nasty fall in a rugby match that day. But as he had spent the rest of the day in the pub, I reasoned that it couldn't have been that bad and showed him no sympathy at all. He moaned til about 2am when I took him to the hospital - turns out he had torn a ligament in his knee, he was off work for months and needed physio. Oops!
