What recommendation would you offer to resolve
the influx of illegal immigrants coming into the USA?

    sadie lou we've already done that...the only problem is that the workers in the mexican factories only make like a $1.50 an hour...

    i personally have no problems with the illegal immigrants...they want to work, they work hard, they work long hours, what is the problem?

    i say let em in...

    if it was okay for the italians and the irish and the jews, why not the mexicans and the central americans?

    Personally, I do not know. But I did hear one suggestion is for US to totally absorb Mexico!?! That would be a trip.

    I agree with nancy to some degree, I think the illegal immagrants do work hard and our society would suffer if they were not here, BUT I don't agree with the free ride they are getting. It is not fair to take advantage of all of the great things our country has to offer if you are not willing to become a citizen and absorb some of the responsibilities. Our tax dollars our used considerably for illegals.

    I think what makes the US great is that we provide opportunities for all, but I don't think it is fair for anyone to come in and expect a free ride.

    Guest worker status. They're going to come here anyway, might as well get the taxes since they are living here. Like Pixie said, no free ride.

    This is huuuuge question. (A wake-up call?)Like a giant octopus has maaaany “arms”/angles.
    I would like to focus on the “social justice”/human rights one.

    While it is very simplistic: “everyone wants a piece of the pie”, even if the pie is mostly an illusion – deja-vu.
    While people around the word are dying of hunger (and killing each other) daily by the thousands, North of the Mexican border, a large segment of the population lives in obscene excess and debauchery. The “middle class” only a memory of times past…
    The rest, are the working poor. These working poor are not competing for the jobs the migrant workers come North for.

    They should be “accommodated in some legal fashion” instead of being hunted down –figuratively speaking - like animals and sent back in humiliation.
    What is this about building fences across the border? Infrared nigh vision equipment?
    Death in the desert? Human smuggling? Border volunteer vigilantes?

    We fancy ourselves civilized?
    Let’s all get travel documents (?), working permits and get this nonsense over with!
    But, that brings me to another “angle” – the huge inconvenience that that would cause a lot of the mercenary and greedy employers that are getting wealthier on the backs of these migrant workers and their children… and the fact that we will pay more for our produce and other essentials.

    Accept the reality and move on. The US is based on diversity and opportunity, and immigrants will always find a way to get in. Plus, it gives FoxNews and other political loud-mouths a chance to complain. The biggest problem we have with immigrants is that they want to work hard; a big threat to our lazy mentality. Solve this problem and you may want to move on to the world peace issue. Some battles are not meant to be won.

    Simple. Limit visas to a short period of time (1 year at a time MAX), and if somebody is NOT taking ACTIVE steps to become an American citizen, go back home!

    I know, you're all saying I'm a xenophobe, etc. Not true. It's just that I'm a Caucasian male of European descent. And I'm now a minority. And I occasionally experience discrimination.
    So, let me clarify: if "Alien X" comes to the states looking for a better way of life, fine. But you'd better go all the way and NOT short-change people like me.

    One of my friends sent this to me in email, and it fit perfect with your question. Let everyone you know about this if you think to be true. THIS WAS IN A TAMPA NEWSPAPER

    Think about this: If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone-----YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM !!!!

    Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice??????

    Think about it! All we have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS?


    I celebrate Christmas...........but because it isn't celebrated by everyone..............we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings.

    It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?

    We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that. This says it all!



    This is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa, FL Newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!
    IMMIGRANTS,

    NOT AMERICANS,

    MUST ADAPT.

    I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However...... the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
    I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America.

    Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants.

    However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to

    our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.

    This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans...... we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

    We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.

    Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

    "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles............. founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home.........because God is part of our culture.

    If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you
    should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.

    We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really

    don't care how you did things where you came from.

    This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle.

    Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we

    will allow you every opportunity to do so!

    But once you are done complaining....... whining...... and griping....... about our flag....... our pledge...... our national motto........or our way of life....I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other Great American Freedom.......
    THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

    It is Time for America to Speak up If you agree -- pass this along;

    if you don't agree -- delete it - You are in the WRONG Country!

    AMEN

    I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try, please!
