Two Hundred and Twelfth Question

When was the last time you received a compliment
from a stranger? What did the person say to you?
When was the last time you gave someone else a compliment?

Oh way too many to count!!! Kidding. Seriously, I don't remember/recall the last time. Not much of an answer to your question is it? :-/

OK can we get the motives for the question sorted first...? :o)

I mean being single allows me a certain degree of flexibility to pay a particular section of our society more compliments than maybe I would of if wasn't :o)

i am frequently complimented on things like my hair or whatever...i can't remember a specicific instance, tho...and i am quite liberal at giving compliments as well...i just gave one five minutes ago to a guy doing sdome work on my house...

ya gotta give to get...and you won't always get it from the one you gave it to...and usually if you give you get back threefold...i'm a firm believer in what goes around comes around...aka karma...

    peace...

I've received three compliments from different people in the last few days about the weight I have recently lost. It feels great to have others notice!

I gave a compliment to someone yesterday because it was their birthday and they were dressed up nicely. This person is also struggling with the recent death of their father, so I try to say something nice every time we see each other.

last wednesday. i was in the elevator at the dr's office and had a woman compliment my hair. she didn't believe that my hair was naturally curly and was blown away when i told her it was real.

the last time i gave a compliment to a stranger was also last week (maybe the week before) when i complimented a woman's skirt/outfit.

i believe that compliments from strangers mean more than those from your friends.

I'm at a point where people stop me at work and ask how much weight I've lost. I tell them, they ask how, I start to explain and they lose interest...lol!

I try to compliment everyone I get a chance to everyday...something about generating "positive energy" in this world makes me feel better!

My co-worker compliments something I am wearing just about everyday, but I think it is smarmy, not genuine. The best compliment I've had recently was at our housewarming party from a friend I hadn't seen in awhile. She said I looked beautiful and really happy!

I give compliments on outfits or pretty jewelry or on a job well done, but probably not as much as I could.

I have this odd green and pink purse that I get compliments on all the time. Even from straight men (leather squares held together by thick staples. Men seem to be drawn to the hardware).

That is what life is about. Giving and receiving.
Even a shy smile can be a commpliment and might change another's day for the better, perhaps even their life...

Receiving a compliment was a hard thing for me to learn - it is a gift in itself to accept graciously the one that is given.

Hmm, from a stranger? I'll have to think about that for a while and stop back.

I compliment coworkers frequently, generally on hair, outfits (women, of course), shoes, accessories. You know, girl stuff!

Complimented a girl I don't really know on her presentation in class today. She had a really good idea and pulled it off well. Everyone else split quick cause we were over time but I wanted her to know that it went well.

As for me...my laugh. I guy at church couldn't get excited enough about it and how happy he was that he could put a face to the cackle he hears every Sunday. I just thought I was annoying but I guess I'm wrong. ::shrug::

Yesterday as a matter of fact, a stranger told me I smelled really good.

I unfortunately am not very good at compliments at least the ones that aren't laced with sarcasm

A clerk at the post ofice used to give me compliments about the way I look every time I went in there. Rather than feel good about them, they just creeped me out.

As for when I gave a stranger a compliment. Other than to tell a parent how adorable their baby is, I don't generally talk to strangers.

Like Sublime, three comments this week in passing about having lost weight (which bizarrely, is not enough weight to be noticed by me, but there you have it). I try to comment on people's nice clothes, hair on a frequent basis. I made a little girl's eyes light up in the schoolyard today because I complimented her skirt.

The last time a stranger complimented me was a last June when I was back home in Hollywood, CA. I was buying a cold coffee drink and I forgot my wallet in the car. A beautiful women in back of me said she'd cover it. Then she said "You know you have gorgeous eyes." Then she asked me to smile for her and I did and then she complimented my smile too. I said thanks and she walked off. She didn't even give me her name so I guess we're still strangers.

An older lady stopped me at work and told me I had a smile that belonged in the movies.
