i'd say san diego where my boyfriend and i had our first "date" after we met. i can't remember the name of it off the top of my head, but we had a room that looked out over a small beach and had campfires on it. there were three pools, several great places to eat, and lots to do in the area. i hope to go back again one day...
My boyfriend took me to the Heathman Hotel in Portland for my birthday a couple years back. There were cushy robes and the most comfy bed. We had a fancy dinner in the restaurant downstairs. It was a lot of fun!
What USED to be the Hyatt Regency Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii. I was able to stay there 3 years after it opened, and it was THE resort at that time.
It was in the middle of NOWHERE at the time - totally secluded. I'm sure it's MUCH different now...
Most would say, "Big whoop," but for me personally, the nicest was... The Carlton Suites in Millville, NJ, about 30 miles from Ocean City. It's where my wife and I went for our honeymoon. It was a very simple room, but quite elegant. The king-size bed was awesome! The balcony overlooked a small pond with a fountain in the middle, and swans and geese swam about.
In the mid-80's we spent a week in a suite at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, Ca. The rooms were huge and beautifully decorated.
Our suite was separated from the main corridor by a private entry way. The living room area was equipped with a fireplace the colors light and airy shades of yellows and creams which highlighted the lovely furniture. Sheers on the windows let in the California sunlight.
The bedroom continued the color scheme right through the dressing room and enormous bath. Fluffy towels, robes and slippers. Walk in closets... all the bells and whistles for a luxurious stay.
The cherry on top.... the walls were not painted or wallpapered... they were all padded and upholstered!!!
Chateau-On-the-Lake in...(here it comes!) Branson, MO. Really, the most wonderful experience in hotels I have ever had. I totally forgot I was in Branson. http://www.chateauonthelake.com/
Ritz Carlton in Naples, FL and Bermuda. At each I was doing a job for Pfizer and in Naples they stopped me walking through the lobby to tell me I couldn't wear jeans in the lobby! Not grungy knee-out jeans, but clean, pressed, dark blue jeans! Not even to walk through the lobby!
