Three Hundred and Ninth Question

The city I live in is home to one of the most popular college football teams of all time. This weekend is their much anticipated first home game and the city, airports, hotels and streets will be overrun with crazed fans. Tailgate parties will abound.

What is the best major sporting event you've ever attended?
And, what is your favorite "football season" recipe or snack?

To me, there's nothing better than chili at a football party!

And my favorite sporting event attended, hmmmm. I've never been to a Pats game, interestingly enough. So it's got to be either one of the Bruins' Stanley Cup playoff games (87-88), or a Sox/Yankee game.

Hockey is the only sporting event I've been to in years. I went to all my high school football games (we were conference champs) but spent most of the time selling pizza in the drama club snack shack!

For Super Bowl, my mom makes little smokies - little smokies sausages, wrapped in bacon and sprinkled with brown sugar before being baked. They are sinful and addictive!

My first NFL game...shortly after the Colts moved to Indy in '84, my dad took me to the Hoosier Dome (when it was still called that.) I remember the moment walking into the stadium and feeling that incredible sense of awe and amazement. The bright lights, the vivid colors...I knew right then I was hooked.
Food - outdoors, any grilled meat will suit me just fine. Indoors - chili.

Best sporting event: countless hockey games in Binghamton, NY. I've never gone to a MLB, NFL, NBA or major college event.

Best "snack:" Papa John's Pizza with tons of garlic dipping sauce!

best sporting event is countless games at yankee stadium...even on the hottest summer day when the bronx totally reeks...

i do not follow football at all...it is too cold to go to games and it is burly and stupid...imhom that is...the superbowl does nothing for me at all...but if i had to pick a good party food i'd say cake...a football shaped chocolate cake...

    ciao...

My first Daytona 500 in 2001.

We were guests of a corporate sponsor. No tailgating. Charter bus to the infield, paddock suite behind pit road, catered food plus a meet & greet with Bobby Labonte & Joe Gibbs. Certainly spoiled me .... I hate bleacher seats now.

    Buffalo wings rule!!

A couple of years ago, a professional acquaintance of my boyfriend decided to share her family's Green Bay Packer season tickets with us - we ended up going to a preseason game against the Tennesse Titans in 2004. The ride up to Lambeau was crazy (the only guys in a van full of football-crazy women) and a little booze-soaked, and the tailgating (more good food!!) and game were raucous, to say the least.

The best part came when the game was stopped just before halftime due to lightning hitting very close to the stadium. During the delay, the atriums under the seats were a big PARTY!! It was such a fun time, and it was a shame we had to leave early due to having to work the next day...but that memory lingers.
