Only as it is defined in 1.c. I think we just bounce around randomly and things are bound to appear as fate because of all the possible paths/thoughts/outcomes.

    No.

But, (there's always a "but"), if there is such a thing as reincarnation then I do believe in the Eastern concept that the same group of spirits go on meeting time and again throughout eternity. The combinations and relationships might change, mothers might return as sisters, brothers as close friends, but always the same relatively small group of spirits together.

This explains why certain people are so very "familiar" when first you meet. Some people claim to experience "love at first sight". Or certainly intense friendships "at first sight", which indeed do go on to last a lifetime.

So I suppose that is a kind of fate, because these meetings are pre-ordained.

I belive that people come into our lives and events happen to us for a reason, but how you react and what you learn from it are our own choice.

I believe I was meant to meet my partner, but whether I was ready to accept that sort of relationship at that point was up to me.

I don't call it fate, but it's the same concept. I believe that God puts us where He wants us and puts places/people/things in our life at just the right time...His perfect time.

No, I believe what happens to people is a product of how they react to what happens. what's amazing for one could be nothing to another. We live in a world of random

    Only as defined by c.

There are always outcomes. How do we decide which were predetermined? How do we know which things came close to being but never happened without being conscious of them?

I tend to believe that life offers us opportunities and doors, but whether we pass them or walk through them is determined by our own choices at the time, and not predestined. Sometimes, later on, those same doors beckon us again. Sometimes, we're passed things up forever.

There is absolutely nothing random, while our choices determine our experiences - or illusions thereof..
    It is not a contradiction.
Totally believe there is a reason for everything - have been seriously "paying attention" since 1994.

Author Caroline Myss wrote about this (if anyone interested) in Sacred Contracts - a fascinating journey we are on, if only we "care to look".

Cheer-up, all is going according to schedule!

Not fate so much as God. I think certain people were meant to find each other at a certain time. I don't know what you'd call that.

Life is what you make it. Fate is shapeable, changeable...
I believe in God and a plan, but ultimately my choices determine how things end up. I think God has a perfect will for us and a permissible will...

    Yes, I believe in fate.
    An example in my life?
    Hmmm.
Maybe this - I grew up in a tiny town in the Southwest, my husband in a big Ohio city.
He and a friend travelled around the country, eventually ending up in my tiny town, where they lived for almost 2 years.
We, however, did not meet until several years later -
and in an entirely different place.
At our wedding, it was pointed out that he and his friend had lived right across the street from my older sister, and that the one time his parents visited him there, his father had met, shaken hands with and talked to my father during a Rotary meeting.
Eerie, since my father died almost 3 years before we got married.

I don't believe in fate as an undeniable force that allows us no control over our lives. I believe that the paths we take are up to us and change will only happen if we make it.

More than fate, I believe that life is chance - what some people see as fate, I see as coincidence -life is the result of them. It can be hard to accept that thousands of coincidences have led people to where they are - fate, in that respect, is an easier concept to believe in and it removes all personal responsibility from your life.

I believe that it's a little of both. The universe is chaos and randomness, but as Chaos Theory has discovered, even within chaos and randomness there is a certain order to things.

So as for fate, I think that there are several possibilities in ones life, but certain choices will bring 'fated' results. I believe the universe is a balance between choice and fate.
