I left for college at 18, but spent the next 2 summers there. I guess I was gone for good at 20. I started completely supporting myself at 22. I would always be welcome back if circumstances forced me there, but I wouldn't never want to live with my parents again.

i was 17 when i moved in with my boyfriend, who was way older...our apartment was right next door to my gym teacher's house...she told me that if i were her daughter she would've put me in juvie...

i moved back to my parents once after that, then moved out at 21 and have been on my own ever since...

I was 18. I moved out when I my 24 y/o boyfriend asked me to move in with him. Lasted about 2 years, then I moved back home for about 6 months before buying a house of my own...

I was given luggage for my high school graduation. I was 17 when I graduated high school (I started school early). My parents then moved to a one bedroom apartment and didn't tell any of us where they were moving. They blind folded us when they took us to their new digs (not b/c they didn't want us to know where they moved, but b/c they wanted us to "guess" our location).

I've been on my own since 17, and am "self made". With a few bumps and bruises and bad mistakes, I'm doing ok now at 37.

In 1968 at age 18, I moved from a small historic village in North Eastern Ohio to Chicago, Ill in order to attend the American Academy of Art. I returned for visits... then married and moved to Missouri.

Left for college at age 20. Finished 2 years and went back home briefly for a couple of months, then left for good to move to PA. I ended up getting settled in my job, met my wife, and the rest is history.

I left at 18 to go to uni, but I moved home within a few months and commuted instead. I left for good when I was 24 - finished all my education and stepped into the real world. But I only live a street away from my mother. Could never go too far away.

I left to move 30 miles to do my 2nd year of college at 19. Moved back home to work that summer and then move 200 miles away and never regretted it. I needed that independence that wasn't allowed. So far I've avoided jail...

At 19, I lived for a year in a university housing. Moved back for my last two years and left for good at 21 when I got married. I finally lived by myself (and for myself!) at 29.

18 was pretty much when I became independent after joining the military. I lived with my aunt the past two years before that so if that doesn't count, left my mom's when I was 16 to move to the U.S.
