this past weekend i went camping up along the northern cali coast. i stood on a beach and closed my eyes to listen to the waves crashing in. it made me remember how small i am in the big scheme of things and a sense of peace swept over me.

Sunday night. I was lying in my room listening to a new CD and cuddling with my sweetie. We laid there thru the entire CD. It was so nice to just do nothing but be with each other.

For the last few year or two, every night when my head hits the pillow...somehow I've resolved that when I lie down my day is done, that's it, there's nothing more I can do, and until I get up there's nothing to worry about!

Sadly, I don't really remember. My life has been a constant flurry of tasks, details and decisions. I need to slow down!

Truly at peace? Winter of 2002-03. Everything in my family's life was stable, constant and very good. In the next year, my grandmother fell terminally ill, I was forced to retire at age 35 with a miniscule pension, and our house (actually Grandma's) was claimed by the state. We're still picking up the pieces 3 years later...

Long lasting peace has been awhile in coming, but weirdly, while watching Planet Earth last night I was over awed by the sweeping panorama's of mountains and cliffs and lakes and rivers and I felt peace wash over me, a peace that came from seeing the utter beauty and tranquility the earth can offer.
