After I finished my studies at the University of Vermont I joined the Peace Corps and served on the island of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands (near New Guinea in the South Pacific). -Ron
Furthest away from home is: Palau and Chuuk (Truk) islands.
Scuba diving in 82 to 84 degree water, with 80+ feet of visability, cool reef sharks, manta rays, turtles, napolean wrasse, wrecks... all kinds of cool stuff.
Ironically, this is the first and currently last time I've ever (1) left the continental United States (stopped in Hawaii on the way to and from), and (2) left the USA at all! I haven't even been to Mexico. :)
I went out to Nebraska (lame, I know) to vacation at Lake McConaughey (not sure of spelling) with my brother and my aunts and cousins. We drove. I live in Michigan. That's technically the furthest I've been.

While in the Marine Corps I went to many places, but I think the farthest I went was to Okinawa Japan.

Cancun, but that was not nearly far enough. It was for vacation. Sleeping with the peacocks and getting drunk while relaxing in the pool.

I live a very sheltered life apparently. I'm in Missouri and the farthest I've ever been from home was Florida and it was for my uncles funeral.

This is gonna be corny, but I'm never away from home because I learned a long time ago that home was inside myself.
