I hear cars driving by outside my office window. I hear the sound my keyboard makes as I type this answer. I hear filing cabinet drawers opening in the hallway (because I'm at work). And, I hear the muffled voice of someone talking in an office down the hallway. Oh, I also hear the hum of the air conditioning system.
i hear cars riding by outside my home office window...i hear the hum and whirl of my hard drive...and that's about it...just now the ringing of the telephone...peace...
It's so quiet here right now. Quieter than usual, I think. Here meaning home. I hear the tag on the cat's collar, she's "chirping" a little. The hum of the AC just kicking in, and that's really it. I don't hear the birds chirping, which is very unusual. No cars outside, the neighbors have all left for work, except for those of us not working or on vacation. If the cat were sleeping on the computer table next to me, I'd hear her snoring rather loudly. I do like it when it's quiet like this. I just wish the birds were chirping more.
I hear the air conditioning roaring, a big truck just drove by and honked. I hear other employees talking on their phones, other phones ringing and other employees walking by. I also hear the my own breathing.
My own laughter, thinking about Blogzie and the lawn guy.
And Liam, saying goodbye to Aunt Jujy and her baby. And Jujy, tearing down the driveway with all the vroom, skid, and grind of one who just learned to drive a stick shift and decided to try it out today on her husband's BMW.
The rain and thunder, runoff splattering against my balcony railing. A police siren, the hum of my air conditioner, (as this is the tropics, and it will be eternally humid), and the narration of Thomas Stanley, PhD.'s, The Millionaire Next Door, on tape in my stereo, talking about budgeting and finance. It is a wonderful day.
I hear the humming of my refrigerator and the a/c. I hear the sound of a train blowing its whistle and cars and big rigs on the highway. And my heart pounding for the one I love, its our three years today.
Hammering from the construction in the apartment below me, a retarded man making hooting noises in the alleyway, "Fly on the Windscreen" by Depeche Mode coming out of my computer speakers. Yes, I know, but I like Depeche Mode.
Hmmm...I hear a bug outside buzzing, I hear the TV running, I hear my husband lecturing my 6 year old, I hear the baby googling, I hear traffic, I hear the clicking of my nails on the keys, I hear the dog chewing on her bone, and I hear the cat swatting at a piece of paper she's turned into her toy.
Oh, and I hear the clinking of pennies in my 3 yr old's pockets.
(I'm at work right now, so...) Folks typing away, a coworker's classic rock-and-soul mix playing off his computer, and the A/C working overtime to keep mainframes and such cool (I work for an Internet provider.).

I hear my children playing in the other room, TV singing in the background, birds outside my window and all the lovely summertime sounds outside.

I hear my gardener outside mowing and blowing. It makes me feel rich to be able to afford him. I'm becoming so bourgeois.
Also, he is such a hottie and if I weren't married, I would do him in a New York minute.

Someone pecking away on a keyboard. Other than that it's so quiet you can hear a piece of lint drop. The library is dead today.
