Thirty-eighth Question

Have anyone ever been disowned from your family? If not, does your family have a so-called "black sheep" or someone that might just be out of the ordinary? Describe the person or situation.

i am currently disowned, so to speak, from my family of birth...i came out to my parents as bisexual and that did it...they could not have anything to do with me anymore...

i am not sorry i came out...it just sucks that there are people in this world that are so damn close-minded...

    peace...

I've always half joked that I was the black sheep of the family. I'm the oldest of 8 kids, the only one that didn't go to college, I joined the Army. While my dad, brothers and sisters are all 'white collar', I married blue collar. My family all live in the city, I've always liked the country including country music. My family is close and I know they all love me and would do anything for me, but I've always felt like a bit of an outcast.
I've never shared this with anyone. Thanks for asking.

My uncle is the black sheep. He's constantly not speaking to either my mother, me, my father or my grandmother. And I mean for years at a stretch. Over the absolute dumbest of things. Todays status: not talking.

His good quality is that he is a huge animal rights activists, particularly with feral cats. Doesn't seem to have that same compassion for the family, though.

I don't know if I have been disowned so to speak but my dad no longer talks to me or my kids since I came out. I think I have always been some what of the black-sheep of the family because I am not how they want me to be.

Well, I'm not sure who disowned whom, but my father and aunt (his sister) don't speak to each other anymore because 1. they couldn't agree on what my grandfather's will really meant 2. neither behaved the way the other wanted when other family members died. It's so stupid it's unbelievable. Their parents aren't alive anymore, and my father never was close to the extended family, so I'm not sure if you'd say one was disowned...

How appropriate. We're you listening to my mother and I vascillating between yelling and silence on the phone last night?

Long story short, the disowning has begun. Apparantly, I'm in the same group as my alcoholic uncle and my drug addict cousin. Nothing redeemable, just a worthless piece of trash.

I would call myself the black sheep being a less than pencil thin gal in a family of dieters and Body for Lifers. I know that it REALLY bothers my family that I am not really thin...for some reason that I don't get, hell it's my life. They are alwyas making comments about trying Atkins, or the Zone, or wouldn't you feel better if you lost a few pounds. My answer...piss off!

No-one has ever been anything quite as grand as disowned but my brother is too lazy to join in, is that the same thing? He avoids family get togethers and grumbles about not being included. Life is too short for back turning in my opinion.

I am the blacksheep of the family that adopted me when I was three days old. Simply because they just don't understand me. I take after my birth mother. ( whom I have an incredible relationship with). I like to do things differently then the rest of the world and I am wrong for that according to my family. Why the question?

I'm the black sheep. Literally and figurately. *lol* The reasons are simple: 1) I'm adopted and 2) I'm a lesbian.

I used to be the "black sheep," but my younger sister has managed to steal that title and run with it. I'm kind of glad. It was getting old for me.

My entire family is comprised of black sheep.

We fight over who is the blackest.

Nobody is actually disowned, but my sister very nearly was when she began dating a black man, and I have no doubt that I would have been had my dad found out before his death that I'm gay.

I'm not disowned and I don't think anyone is however, we do have a black sheep of the family. It is my dad's older brother.

He has been married 5 or 6 times and really just doesn't fit in. Whenever we have family get togethers everyone just rolls their eyes and heads to another room when he gets on his high horse and starts quoting "The Lord".

Everyone is entitled to their opinion mind you, but I just can't stand people that preach and then don't let you or listen to your opinion. Some people you just can't have a conversation with.

My parents have always referred to me as the airhead of the family. They don't know it, but it does hurt. They just assume I will fuck up because that's what I do best.

And now I'm really hard on myself when I make stupid mistakes.

I was disowned for 6 years when
I told my family I was gay.
I won them back eventually and lost them again when my mom died.
    I am the black sheep.

Oh boy. It's really a toss up. I mean every one of us has been tossed out of the will at different times, but if I had to make a definitive decision on a black sheep in our family, I'd have to call Uncle Jimmy. Which, actually, I just posted about on my blog...lets see, what was the title of that one? F.I.N.E (among other things) is the title of that one.

There's even pictures of him in the Flickr account.
