the first time i got behind the week was when i was 12. my dad wanted me to learn how to drive a stick shift. we practiced in an empty parking lot on a saturday morning. about 30 minutes into lesson one i backed into a tree and dented the tail gate.
i officially got my license at 15. it was a special permit that let me drive between 6am and 6pm to and from school only.

I learned to drive at the age of 13 i believe. My sister taught me and my nephew (2 years older then me) at the same time. I was bad.

In an odd way, I taught myself. I'm a visual learner, so I would watch my parents drive from the back seat. By the time I got behind the wheel, all I needed to get used to was the feel of the gas and brakes. That took like 15 seconds.
The first time I actually drove: my folks were out of town, it had just snowed 5" and I found the car keys. I took it out around my (residential) neighborhood and the school parking lot and learned how to do controlled skids, fishtails, and no-skid braking.
I told my mom and dad about my adventure about 3 years after I got my licence...
During the blizzard of '93, I was one of the only people in town able to navigate through the 2 feet of snowfall.

OK I admit it, I am a Petrol Head!
I learnt to drive at the age of 8... My Dad taught me, (Think I nagged him so much he did so for a quiet life!)
Obviously all off-road use until I pass my driving test at the earliest opportunity...
Motorbikes are much more fun (And Quicker) than cars though :o))))

I was 15 when I learned to drive. My stepdad let me take the car out on a dry lake bed and drive around by myself. (He still doesn't know about that sand dune I went flying over like the Dukes of Hazard!)
I took driver's ed at school and learned from a stinky, slightly drunk science teacher. I got my license a couple months after my 16th birthday.

I got my first motorcycle when I was about 6, but as far as driving things with 4 wheels I guess I was about 12 learning to drive my grandpas old farm truck. But no one ever taught me they just kinda tossed me the keys.

I was the legal age of 16. Flunked my first driver's test at the motor vehicle bureau in Rock Island, IL. I didn't wait three seconds at a stop sign so the old codger flunked me.
