Do you have a nickname? If so, what is it and how did you get the name. If not, do you use nicknames for other people?

Rit is my nickname. My youngest brother couldn't say my name and out came Rit. It stuck.

I nickname everyone because I'm lazy and like to shorten their name or I just find something funny and it makes me laugh.

My legal name is Gerrit, but everybody butchers the pronunciation or spelling, so I go by Gary...
Nickname: Newt, given to me by my older brother, just to get back at me, because I was abnormally pesky and obnoxious.

People who know me from school call me Scoot which is short for Scooter because one time I fell off of a two story building and they said it looked like I just scooted off.

I have called my youngest daughter Bean since she was born. I don't know why though.

Ree. My Uncle Liam still calls me that. It came about because they called me Ingermarie as a baby, and my toddler sister couldn't say that mouthful.

I've had many nicknames throughout life. My first was "taytay" because my little sister couldn't say Stacy. That one stuck thru high school. People have also called me "Stacy J." and "Johnson", that being my maiden name. Now, since I have a great mother goose of a rhyming name (stacy pace), I get all sorts of crap. Mostly "PaceyStace." "Stacy Girl" has also been a nick since college when I first saw Tank Girl.

My kids have nicks that they've had since birth...my son, Cameron Drake, has always been Drakey, and my daughter Andie answers to "Panda."

When I was in college, I used "Lynn".

Then someone came on staff with "Lynne".

I forwarded the mis-addressed email to that person.

Although I'd had my account for over a year, I was forced to choose a new account name. I went with "Snoopy", as my Sister gave me a stuffed Snoopy when I was a little girl.

I was sick alot as a child. I took that stuffed Snoopy with me to the hospital. I took it everywhere.

Anyway, in college my nickname became Snoopy.

I've also had some friends call me "James" instead of my real first name of "Jamie". I was named after my uncle James, so I was ok with that. :)

Oops, I meant to say I used the username of Lynn for my college email account. And then had to change it to Snoopy for the reason already stated.

My nickname is Crys - short for Crystal. I'm also called Cris-tale, Crystal Light, Watson, (and when I was a wee lass: Frog or Punky Brewster)

I'm a big nickname fan. I think it's endearing and loving to give someone a nickname.

My was "Little Debbie" because I was the littlest Debbie on the block. There were four of us. No one calls me that now, but when I see the Little Debbie cake displays at the store, I smile!

i didn't really have a nickname until a year and half ago. my boyfriend at the time for some unknown reason started calling me "d" but spelled "dee" (he said b/c i was more than just the letter). that stuck and now most of my close friends use it.

Mine's Cat, short for my full name.

I've been called Hale since I was about thirteen, it's a dumb story which doesn't mean anything at all to anyone who wasn't present at the time but the name stuck.

One old friend used to call me by my last name but after he was killed in an accident I've been very strict about not letting anyone else call me by last name, I want to keep it as "our thing".

I've come up with various nicknames to my friends and lovers, one of the weirdest being "rat trap".

I have a nickname, but I only allow people in the family to call me it. It is Galey.

I think I got it originally because my brother couldn't pronounce my whole name when he was younger.

Everyone always asks me if I have a nickname, but I say no. You have to learn to pronounce the whole damn thing. Only family gets to use the shortened version.

I dont have a nickname, at least not one I am aware of. My mother calls her older sister "Ga Ga" - her actual name is Pam so I have no idea what that is about! I think it has something to do with when they were very young or something, anyway 50 years later - it still sticks!

When I was a kid my family called me buger butts. So now I call my son buger butts all the time, habit I guess.

In school as a kid hateful people would call me burrito butt.
