Eighty-third Question

Today's question was inspired by a recent post on Lipstick LuLu's blog.

Most cities and towns usually have their own spooky folklore, "haunted houses" or urban legend stories. Do you know of any stories about where you live? If so, do tell...

Hands down one of the scariest places around is dubbed "Hookman's Road". It is located in the town where I went to High School and I use to HATE driving down this super narrow, twisting, turning road. Not only did it look horribly creepy, but you FELT creepy every time you were on it.

I Goggled "Hook Mans Road, Indiana Haunting" and found these two stories about it, both of which I heard when I lived there...

    Version #1:
On this road, a young couple were driving home from a date when all of a sudden, their car broke down. The young man went for help while the girl sat in the car. When the man returned he couldn't find his girlfriend. He figured she had gone to look for help also. A drop of blood dripped on the windshield and he looked up above his car to find the girl hanging from a tree. People have seen ghosts hanging, weird things in the woods, and since the site is right next to a swamp, it is very creepy. It is a popular place for breakdowns and a lot of people have been killed there by car accidents.

    Version #2
A small road which is said to be haunted by a old ghost of a pirate, who lived out in the country in some woods. If you go out there at night in the woods by the old huge house you can sometimes see an old guy with one hand and a hook on the other. It is said that many people have died there."

IN the town where I graduated High School, they had this weird thing that went on, where if you stayed in that town after graduation, you ended up preganant or married or both by the time you were 19. I think maybe it was the water.

I guess my town is boring because I haven't heard of anything.

There was a old deserted road in my town that had a legend you'd be chased or killed if you drove down it late at night.

If living in the same town where the Michael Jackson trial was held isn't spooky, then I don't know what is.

Look the town up on the internet. Has lots of stories. People from everywhere come here to visit the town of Atchison Kansas. Creepy
