Ninety-fourth Question

Today is "National Sandwich Day", the birth date of the Earl of Sandwich, an 18th century nobleman who ate meat between bread so he could have one hand free to play cards.

What is your favorite kind of sandwich? Please describe in delicious detail or share a recipe.

I have two sandwich recipe's... both a little weird, I guess.

    1) Cheddar cheese melt with onions and pineapple, between two pieces of wheat bread.

    This kindof tastes like pizza.

    2) Onion and mayonaise and peanut-butter sandwich, in between two pieces of wheat bread.

    Sounds disgusting. Tastes incredible. :)

Otherwise, I'm fond of PB&J's, or bologna and cheese sandwiches.

On vacation this summer, motorcycling across Colorado we went over and over and over in Subway and my husband and I would split a Tuna Wrap....w/lettuce, tomatoe, cucumber, green pepper, pepperocini's and just a dash of mayo....That and a lemonade and a couple of White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies.....really really fresh and good, every Subway served the same fresh quality!

I like the sandwich. Any sandwich will do. Last weekend I got fancy and made a roasted vegetable sandwich with a dill/mayo spread, arugula, and Gruyere cheese on a French baguette...also simply can't go wrong with good ole PB&J.

When I'm in a kid mood I love grilled peanut butter and jelly on wheat bread. Basically same concept as grilled cheese, but using peanut butter and jelly instead. In my all grown up moods I'll go for something sensible like turkey with provolone, mayo and lettuce on whole wheat.

plain old yellow american cheese (three slices is perfect)
    on plain old white bread
    with plain old miracle whip

    variation #1:
add FRESH iceberg lettuce and/or FRESH tomato slices

    variation #2:
    grill (sans lettuce and tomato)

    variation #3:
add baked ham to either version

perfect cool weather dinner or when not feeling well:
serve the grilled version with cream of tomato soup
    OR
serve the cold version with cream of chicken noodle soup

This must be the reason why I went to Subway today and got my favorite. I love those meatball sandwiches with American Cheese. I don't need anything else with their delicious sauce.

Other than those, every once in a while I'll crave a grilled cheese.
