One Hundred and Fifteenth Question

Thanks to Girlinpinkshorts for submitting this Big Question....

It is often said, God (or life) never gives us more than we can handle.

Do you think this is true? Are we never really given more than we can handle?

Yes. I see it all the time in my work. But I don't think it is god-driven. Bad things happen to good people, and some experience more than others in life. Having faith and spirituality certainly helps to move through these burdens &/or traumas...but I am not a believer that such strife is handed down via divinity.

We're very much adaptable beings. I think it all depends on how much each individual are willing to endure whatever tasks that come our way.

    Good weekend! :-)

I think that the great thing about humans, the thing that has kept our species alive for thousands of years, is our unlimited capacity for dealing with all the crap that comes our way.

Of course, I don't think that's limited to only our species, look at ants. They are working hard, building their home, storing food, caring for children, when BAM, some 5 year old comes along and drives a Tonka truck through all their hard work. Do ants stop and whine about how its too much and they can't carry on? No, they just go back to rebuilding.

I actually blogged on something similar to this the other day. Link is below.

I don't think it's true, not at all. People commit suicide everyday; people die from disease(s).

I don't necessarily agree with that statement, mainly because too many times we tend to run away from the issue(s) in our lives or or we just aimlessly pass through without really dealing with the root of the problem. In cases where, as "Liz" said, bad things happen to good people, I think perspective has more to do with how we proceed rather than determination or effort.
BTW, I used to be an ordained minister, so I've heard the trite saying, and now I've seen the reality of it.

i believe this is very true...it's up to your soul whether you accept these experiences or not...your soul is on a learning and growing mission that encompasses many lifetimes...should your soul accept these experiences and learn and grow from them, when you come back in your next life, you will be one rung up the ladder towards nirvana...

or you can say it's karma...if traumatic things are happening to you, then in another life you caused these things to happen to someone else...everything is connected...

call me kwazy, but these are my beliefs, and i've seen it all work in my own life...

    peace...

I don't believe in all that stuff. I guess those that get more than they can handle end up committing suicide and then they can't answer questions like this.

I do believe that there is something to learn from all situations, but I don't necessarily believe that things happen for a reason. Sometimes shit just happens to you and you can either learn from it and move on or not. The choice is all up to you.

I do believe this, I've seen it over and over again in my family. sometimes it feels as though we can't handle it, but we do. Believing this has gotten me through some very trying times in my life over the past few years.

I dont think this is true, people suffer far too much in this world. Its an illusion to believe that we can handle whatever comes our way, it might comfort some, but it isnt true.

What's true for me isn't true for everyone. This, in my life, is true...cuz I'm still here.

My only problem with that statement is that GOd gave us free will and many things that have happened in my life have been either from someone else's will or my own. I do believe that God gives me the strengh to get through tough times and those times give me an opportunity to grow closer to God.

Part of me believes you recieve back what you put out into the world..

But now that I'm really thinking about it, I'm not sure that is correct.
