A friend of mine passed away on Thanksgiving day last week after many years of struggling against the disease. Glenn was only 34 years old.

Fortunately, no. Although it could happen to anyone of us at anytime. I'm sorry about your friends, Sublime and Nancy (and anyone else who's lost someone to this terrible epidemic).

Yes, I knew a couple who passed away years ago and left behind an infant child struggling with HIV. John had previously been a drug addict and didn't know he had contracted AIDS until he and Marianne were already married. I haven't heard how the child, now about age 12, has been doing.

My friend moved into a wonderful old factory building, mostly inhabited by incredible artists. I would go over several times a week and we'd go visit everyone, learn about their art and hang out. Several had HIV, one died of AIDs during that time. (early 90's)

Thankfully, I don't know anyone who has passed away from AIDS, but one of my brother's friends is HIV positive.
