The Portland zoo is pretty good. I like their concerts on the lawn in the summer.
But I would have to say the best is the San Diego zoo. It's a world class establishment. Haven't been there since I was a kid, but the koalas were to die for.

My all time favorite zoo is Brookfield Zoo near Chicago. I think the best parts are the Jellyfish and the huge Tropic World. Tropic World is a massive indoor habitat with monkeys, hippos, gorillas, free flying birds, etc. It rains in there and is a exact replica of what you might find in the wild. Though, the gorillas make me sad. They always look totally bored and seem so human. Overall, a fabulous zoo and I've throughout my life, I've bought enough of those molded wax animal statues to open a candle shop!

san diego zoo hands down. it might have something to do with the fact that one of my first dates with my boyfriend was there, but they had the most awesome exhibits. and a really cool set up. and these great drink cups that had panda, tiger, or elephant heads. with free refills!
(why do i always end up sounding like a kid when i talk about the zoo?)

The Ft. Worth Zoo is the best one I've visited...but it's been years. Zoos kind of make me sad though, I always feel so bad for the animals.

I'm a bit partial to the Ross Park Zoo in Binghamton, NY-- my birth-town. It's small, but it's the 5th oldest zoo in the US. They have a great snow leopard display, as well as an awesome red wolf exhibit.
I also like the Buffalo Zoo; the best thing there is the sea otter set-up. You can either see them waddling around on land, or look through a low-lying glass partition and see them swimming under water.

I once was at the Detroit zoo, but don't remember it. The only other one I've been to is the St. Louis zoo. My favorite exhibit? The reptile house. Hello, Dr. Freud.

well that or the local crappy-zoo in my town that has like 5 animals...whenever I've gone, it was empty except for "us"...like a private animal show.

San Diego Zoo. Best zoo I have ever been to. I like the reptile section even though my friends kept dragging me away from the creepy crawlies.
