One Hundred and Thirty Seventh Question

How many credit cards do you have? Do you actually use them? If so, do you pay off your full balance(s) every month?

i am just recently crawling out from credit card hell...my hubby and i cut up all the cards except a visa and closed all the other accounts...the visa is only for emergencies...i used to charge EVERYTHING!!...even coffee at starbucks, and what could be more stupid then paying interest on a $4.00 cup of coffee?!?!...or to pay 21% interest on a pair of sweats that cost 10 bucks?!?!?...we did not use any credit cards to do any christmas shopping...

it's all cash only/debit card from now on, and even tho in the begging it was tough, it feels soooo good now...

    peace...

i have one. i am currently $500 away from my limit. i have quit using it. i used to pay it off every month, but when i moved i just started paying at lesat $100 a month. i thought it would eat away at it, but i guess not. i'm now considering transfering it to another card with lower rates...and then never having one again.

I have one, and it's blessedly paid off, and now I'm afraid to use it. SO I don't. This is no virtue: I've been in trouble with CCs in the past.

We have two. One that we only use for pay at the pump gas because of cash back rewards with it. That gets paid off in full each month. The other we use for anything else. We used to have a lot more than that, and got into debt pretty badly. It was just in the last few years that we got out from under it. Normally we try to pay them off completely each month, but we've had some large expenses that went on there, and will take a couple of months to pay off. Then its back to keeping zero balances. We try to use our debit cards/checkbooks and cash for as much as possible.

I have 4 credit cards. I used to have alot more because just about every store you go into will give you a 10 - 15% discount if you open up an account. I finally closed all of them down.

Now, I only use certain cards for certain things. I have an amazon card that I only use on amazon.com I try to put everything else on my american express so I can accumulate some points. However if they don't take AmEx, I try to put it on my Discover, so I can earn cashback. And for those places that don't take AmEx or Discover, I have a Mastercard.

I always pay off all my bills in full.

I used to use my credit cards for everything, but now it is just where all my bills get automatically charged to (Bally's, Cell Phone, DirectTV), otherwise in order to keep tabs on my spending, I just pay cash for everything.

I'll start breakout out the credit cards once again when I get that full-time job.

    argh.

this coincides perfectly with my most recent post.

i have 2. i am not using them anymore. i'm going to get out of debt! i always pay more than the minimum, but never as much as i spend. what a huge mistake it was to ever get these things.

I lose sleep over this. And it's Saturday, so I'm going to pull a Scarlett O'Hara and say, "I won't think about that. I'll think about that tomorrow."

I have four, but I don't use them at all. In the last 4-6 years I have only used one of them once, and that was to pay for World Series tickets.

My balances are very high and I'm trying to pay them off, but usually I can barely muster more than the minimum payment. I'm getting there, though, just very slowly.

Aside from the World Series tickets (which were soooo totally worth it!!) I'm purely a debit card girl now. I wish I had figured that out 10 years ago!

I have two - one just under the limit that I am trying to pay off and another one that I use when I absolutely have to. They keep raising my limit, which irritates me. Damn predatory creditors! I also have one credit card of my bastard ex-husband's that I have to pay off that makes my blood pressure go up just thinking about it.

I have two - one with 4.8k and the other with 5.4k on it so that's £10.2k or about $17k with the current exchange rate. I pay off the minimum each month as affording any more is not feasible at the moment.

I've had the majority of these debts for 5 years+. I'm divorced (and a parent) and that is directly related to why my credit cards are hammered.

I won't take any more out though - relying solely on my bank account at the moment. It's still going to take 4 years to pay them off at my current speed.
