My car has been broken into a couple of times. One time, they stole my entire collection of cassette tapes (about 100). I've still never replaced a lot of them.
My car was broken into the day we move into our house so we had items in the car that wouldn't normally be in there: porn, sex toys, golf clubs, CDs, and car stereo were all stolen. They ripped apart my entire dash board trying to get my stereo out. Assholes!
I remember when I was in band in high school, I was selling candy for German club. After school we had band practice and all of us drummers had our section of lockers in the band room. I put my candy and money inside along with all my books and stuff (but none of us had locks).
After band practice, I noticed that someone had stolen the money for the candy. It had to have been someone who I was in band with and later on I had my hunch who it was.
Luckily, I talked to my German teacher and he let me sell extra candy to cover the cost so I didn't have to pay him back for what was stolen. We didn't raise as much funds, but at least we didn't lose any money.
I have had things stolen before, but I don't think that any affected my life as much as when I was in third grade. I had a notebook that I wrote short stories in... I had almost filled the whole thing up, and it had taken the whole school year or more. They were very thought out stories... I really took pride in them. Armando stole my book, and never gave it back. I didn't think I could duplicate the stories, and I was so sad that I lost those (what I thought) wonderful stories that I never wrote again. I wonder where Armando is and if he still has my book. I've had more expensive things stolen from me before... but I don't think anything could match having that stolen from me, and I really wonder how different my life would have been had it not been stolen. I really loved writing before, and now I dread it.
I was still in the Marines and I was off base doing some laundry and I had my back pack with all my money and other important things sitting on top of my basket. As I was leaving someone ran by and grabbed the back pack and made a run for it. I dropped my basket and ran after them, tackeling him about a block and a half away. Needless to say, he didn't get my money.
In second grade we were allowed to bring one item for show and tell that we'd received for Christmas. I had gotten an adorable Bonnie Braids doll.
Miss Jones said before we went out for recess we had to put our toys on the table in back of the class next to the cloak room. When we returned from the play ground my Bonnie Braids was gone! I was heart broken. I know it was Stevie Ellis... he was the meanest boy in school. He probably too just threw it away.
In adulthood, he served time.... I'm sure for grand theft. Just think what that doll would be worth now in mint condition!!!
There have been a few other incidences but that one is most memorable.
I lived in this apartment that was just a big house and I lived in a room basically with a bathroom and a kitchen. Had a balcony that two rooms shared. Had the door blocked but that did not stop a 13 year old getting in while I was sleeping and take my money jar, make-up, cds, clothes, etc... Went to her parents and told them and they apologized and I got everything back but the money. So I let it slide. Big mistake... After that she busted out my windows on my car. Had no witnesses so she walked free on that. Soon after that she went to a girls home. Thank goch.
